We supply and fit composite decking for gardens across Dundalk and County Louth: the boards, supporting frame, finished edges and any agreed steps or removal. Start with a photo, rough dimensions and your town. Seamus and Pete can then discuss the material and arrange a site visit for an itemised quote.

Tired of the Maintenance and the Green Algae?
If you’ve had a timber deck before, you know the routine. By spring it’s gone green and slippery, so out comes the pressure washer. Then it needs oiling or it’ll start to grey and lift. And that’s the job that never ends, the one that makes people say decking just isn’t worth it in our climate.
Composite can reduce the routine oiling and staining associated with timber. It still needs regular cleaning, especially under trees or in shade. The right board surface, drainage and installation details matter in a damp Louth garden.
If you are replacing timber, we compare retaining sound parts of the structure with a complete rebuild. Rotten supports need attention before new boards go down.
Composite work you can see
Carlingford Marina wellness deck
Our existing project gallery documents the Hot Box Sauna composite deck at Carlingford Marina. The photographs show the finished deck around the sauna and plunge pools, lit steps and the original site before the build. This is a commercial wellness setting, so its design and price should not be treated as a standard back-garden installation.

See the before-and-after project and construction details. For residential ideas, our project gallery also shows a raised deck at back-door level and decking around mature trees. A site visit establishes which details suit your own garden.
What your composite quote should specify
- The named board product, colour and finish, with its fixing and maintenance instructions.
- Deck dimensions and levels, the condition of any existing supports, and the proposed subframe.
- Drainage, ventilation, board spacing and finished perimeter details.
- Steps, required edge protection, lighting and old-deck disposal as separate scope items.
- The final total, VAT treatment, proposed schedule and applicable warranty terms in writing.
Standard capped composite is currently illustrated at €190 to €250 per m², and premium capped composite at €250 to €325 per m² in our cost hub. These are indicative straightforward ground-level supply-and-fit ranges. Raised work, poor access, major groundwork and removal change the price; confirm the specification and VAT basis in your quote.
How We Fit It
Composite is only as good as the frame under it, so the build matters more than the board.
- You call. Seamus arranges to come out, look at the garden and talk through your options.
- You get an itemised quote. A written price with the board, the frame, the steps and the cleanup all listed, and old-deck removal itemised where needed.
- We build it right. A properly spaced, ventilated subframe with drainage, boards laid for run-off and fixed with hidden clips, ends and edges finished cleanly.
- We leave it tidy. The old deck goes with us and the site is left neat, the way you’d want to find it.

What It Costs
Composite costs more upfront than timber, and we’ll be straight with you about that. It can reduce future oiling and staining costs, but lifetime value depends on the product, installation, cleaning and repairs. Compare the full scope, rather than assuming every composite deck will be cheaper over its life.
Every garden is different, so we don’t quote a flat figure online. You get a fixed, written, itemised price after we’ve seen the job, with no surprises at the end. See our decking cost guide for the per square metre ranges we work to.
Composite Decking FAQ
Is composite decking slippery?
Slip resistance depends on the specified board, its surface, drainage and cleaning. Textured boards can help, but algae, ice and standing water can make any deck slippery. We discuss a suitable product and maintenance routine for your garden rather than promise a slip-proof surface.
How long does composite decking last?
Service life depends on the product, subframe, fixing specification and maintenance. Some boards carry long manufacturer warranties, but duration, exclusions and labour cover vary. Your quote should name the board and explain the applicable product warranty separately from workmanship.
What’s the difference between timber and composite decking?
Timber often costs less upfront and needs product-appropriate cleaning and protective treatment. Many composite boards combine wood fibre and plastic; Millboard uses a wood-free resin-mineral construction. They generally avoid routine oiling and staining but still need cleaning. We discuss the exact material, appearance and budget that suit your garden. See our timber decking page for the other side.
Do you remove the old deck?
Yes. Where replacement is needed, removal and disposal are itemised in your written quote. They are not assumed to be free or included in the basic per-square-metre guide. If yours is being replaced, see decking repairs and replacement.
